NO: Then here are a few helpful hints that are intended to guide you through your first week of using a memory foam pillow.

Not All Memory Foam Pillows are Created Equal
Memory foam is a modern technology product developed by NASA. There are no unfavorable "displacement" properties with the SleepRight® Visco-elastic memory foam like you will experience with conventional pillows. Memory foam conforms to your facial contours by taking an "impression" of your head and neck anatomy. This feature greatly minimizes the unwanted side effects of pressure points, which is a benefit unavailable in other pillows. Typically, you will spend a third of your life with your face on a pillow. Pressure relieving memory foam will allow maximum blood flow to the dermal cells of the face, reducing the tendency for facial tissue to crease or sag. Additionally the sleep-arm syndrome is also minimized. Do not under estimate the importance of sizing the memory foam pillow thickness to your shoulder width.

Softness + Density
Softness and density are also very important properties of memory foam pillows. The SleepRight® memory foam pillow is comfortably soft to the touch and readily gives under head weight, yet the foam density is at the heart of modern sleep technology.

Here's how they work together:

As your head settles into the facial relief pocket, the memory foam will softly conform to your personal anatomy. The memory foam will automatically adjust to your body temperature and head weight as your head and neck stabilizes in its resting place. However, you may sense a relative firm-like feeling from the density characteristics of the memory foam pillow, much like your body will sense from your first week sleeping on a new firm mattress. When equalization between head weight and the elasticity of the memory foam is achieved, your head and neck posture will be ideally aligned with your spinal column. Your new sleeping posture is now just what the doctor ordered. All of the features of the SleepRight® pillow design have been created to maintain this orthopedically correct head, neck and spine posture.

It is quite common that the feeling of this new dynamic position will give you the sense that your head is too high in relationship to your body, especially if your previous sleep positions allowed your head to "slump" on the pillow producing that undesirable "crick" in your neck when you awaken. So it may take a few nights to adjust to the new healthier head, neck and spinal alignment while sleeping.

The SleepRight® pillow's uniquely designed anatomical features allows for individual sleep positions. While sleeping with your head placed in the center of the SleepRight® pillow is ideal, we know position changes during your sleep cycle are likely. We advise and encourage our customers to experiment with head positions…right and left of the center of the pillow, as well as rotating the pillow slightly clockwise or counter-clockwise until you have experienced the most comfortable position for you.
